SmartHound Accounting, LLC ("SmartHound," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through smartaccountingsolutions.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. It's written in plain English on purpose — if anything is unclear, just ask us.

Information We Collect

Information you give us. When you schedule an appointment or contact us, we collect what you provide — such as your name, email address, phone number, and any details you choose to share about your tax situation.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site — pages visited, time on page, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you found us. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this; see "Cookies" below.

What we don't collect through the Site. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank or credit card details, or tax documents through this website. Clients exchange sensitive documents only through our secure client portal, which is covered by separate safeguards and our engagement agreement.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to respond to your inquiries and schedule appointments, provide and improve our services, understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Who We Share It With

We share information only with service providers who help us run the business — for example, website hosting (Netlify), analytics (Google Analytics), scheduling and email tools, and our accounting practice-management software. These providers may process your information only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Cookies

The Site uses cookies set by Google Analytics to measure Site usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The Site will work fine without cookies.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep inquiry and questionnaire information for as long as needed to respond to you and, if you become a client, for the duration of our relationship plus any period required by law or professional standards. You can ask us to delete your inquiry information at any time.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) on the Site. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take protecting your information seriously — it's a core part of what an accounting firm does.

Your Choices and Rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@smarthoundaccounting.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws; we will honor valid requests regardless of where you're located.

Children

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
